OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF FACTS
On the early morning hours of September 21,1999, Anastatia (Stacey) Bravo, who was 29 years old, was at a house located at 2115 w. 119th. place in Blue Island, Illinois. Stacey’s boyfriend, the offender, Timothy Gallano, lived at that location along with the owner of the house, Jack Moretti. While on the premises, a verbal argument developed between Stacey and Gallano. During the course of the arguement, Gallano obtained a .38 caliber handgun, put the barrell in contact with the back of Stacey’s head and pulled the trigger five times, killing her instantly.
The gunshots woke up Moretti, who saw the victim lying lifeless and the defendant holding the murder weapon. Subsequently, Moretti agreed to keep the murder a secret and helped Gallano hid the body by placing it in into a garbage bag, then placing the body in a blue plastic bag. Once that was done, the two men covered the body with cement.
Gallano drove the barrel, with the victim’s body encased in cement, to a farm that was owned by some friends. The farm was located in Mokena, Illinois. Gallano lied to the owner’s when he asked permission to store the barrel in one of their barns, by saying the barrel contained motorcycle parts. When the owner’s agreed, the barrel was moved to one of the barns, where Gallano left it.
In late January 2002, Moretti ws arrested for passing bad checks. During the course of questioning, Moretti broke his promise to Gallano and told the police about the murder Gallano committed. On February 4, 2002, Gallano was arrested. During questioning, he admitted to killing Stacey and directed the police to the Mokena farm where Stacey’s body was located in the barrel.
Following the recovery of Stacey’s body, Gallano gave a videotaped confession.
At the time of his murder, he was on probation in Will county for 2 counts of aggravated battery, which resulted from Gallano stabbing two men over the volume of a jukebox.
Gallano is one scarry and dangerous person. In trying to mitigate and justify his actions, Gallano testified that his army training and experience ws to blame for what he did to Stacey. By his own admission, he was trained to kill and fails to see why he should be held responsible for something the government taught him to do.
Gallano is a violent individual with no social conscious. Killing or seriously injuring a human being means absolutely nothing to him. In his mind, he is able to rationalize the violence by blaming it on the government. Since, he will never accept responsibility for his violent acts, he will always commit violent acts. Hence, he will be a real danger to guards and fellow inmates. His conduct must be closely guarded. Combine this with the cunning of a socio-pathic mind, and you have a killing machine who is a strong escape candidate.
Under the law, Gallano must serve 100% of his first degree murder sentence. To allow anything less, would not only violate the law, but subject society to a dangerous predator. Gallano must die in jail for the safety of society.
